It’s a bit controversial, and its focus is more on customers than strategy. Moreover, there’s a bit of confusion in the definitions, for Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design and Business Design are terms that are used interchangeably in design thinking education and have sort of become buzz words especially in the world of innovation. OQ Omar Qadri writes a good high-level overview of each phase of the approach toward a reconciliation of terms.

By using design thinking, you make decisions based on what future customers really want instead of relying only on historical data or making risky bets based on instinct instead of evidence

Phase 1 — Inspiration or Empathy & Need-Finding

Phase 2 — Ideation or Prototyping

Phase 3 — Implementation or Strategy
